The Retirement Villages Association (RVA) has released guidelines for residents and families as the country moves to COVID-19 Alert Level 2.
The guidelines cover physical distancing, village visitors, community facilities, cafes and cinemas, recreational activities, service providers, mental wellbeing and staying safe and well.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development also has information on its website for retirement village residents and their families.
Changes to "gathering" rules in level 2
The Government has announced some important changes to the rules around "gatherings" in level 2 that will impact positively on villages.
The key change is that the maximum of people permitted in a social group has been increased from 10 to 100. Rules for cafes and bars still apply - residents must be seated, spaced apart, and have a single server. Dance activities are still not permitted.
The Government will review the Level 2 settings again on 8 June, and will consider a move to Level 1 no later than 22 June.
